  • London(ish) to Brighton: 40 miles, train to Caterham from Waterloo. Largely flat with a monster hill right at the end before approaching Brighton.

  • Hoo Peninsular: 26 miles. Train to and from Gravesend from Charing X, 45 mins. Nice countryside after you leave the chavpit that is Gravesend
  • Southend-Burnham-Bradwell: 33 miles. Train to Southend, back from Burnham
  • Round the Isle of White: 45 miles. Train to Portsmouth from Clapham, Wightlink to Ryde. Return ferry from Cowes to Southampton, then Soton to Waterloo. Beware South West Trains and their daft bike policy
  • Folkstone-Dungeness-Rye: 30 miles. Train to Folkstone from London Bridge. There's a bird research base at Dungeness in the old lighthouse with bunk-house accommodation at £3 a night. They need help mist-netting and ringing migratory birds.

  • Faversham-Deal: 43 miles. Train to Faversham from London Bridge direct 1h+. Better to use the clifftop routes rather than the roads where possible.
